Posada de Mike Rapu, explora Rapa Nui, named No.1 Hotel in Central and South America and No. 13 in the World, in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2011
The top hotel on Easter Island is now tops in its geographic region. Posada de Mike Rapu of explora Rapa Nui has been named the #1 Resort in Central and South America in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2011. The 16th annual World’s Best Awards, which surveys the magazine’s readership, appears in the August 2011 issue of Travel + Leisure.
Already renowned as the first hotel in Latin America to earn LEED (Silver) Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, Posada de Mike Rapu is distinctively remote, perched above the roaring Pacific and near the ancient Rano Raraku Volcano where Easter Island’s solemn moai were born.
Properties included in the World’s Best Awards 2011 survey were rated by readers on characteristics, including rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food, and value.
“Words cannot describe how thrilled we all are that the sophisticated readers of Travel + Leisure saw fit to honor Posada de Mike Rapu as the best of the World’s Best in Central and South America,” said Jesús Parrilla, CEO of explora. “This award is a true testament to our dedicated staff and our local partner Mike Rapu, who clearly understand that our success rest upon our continue effort in raising our standards on a daily basis, exceeding our travelers’ expectations.”
